LearnUpon's 2022 Wrap Up: Marking Milestones and Celebrating Birthdays

We are fast approaching the end of another year and, as I reflect on how busy 2022 has been, I want to celebrate the many milestones that LearnUpon has achieved over the last 12 months.

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone in the LearnUpon community for such a pivotal year as we celebrated a decade in the industry. Over that time, we have invested heavily in growth; growing our customer base, our product offering, and of course, growing our people-focused team

We’ve continued to collaborate with some really great organizations like Chief Learning Officer, Brandon Hall Group, Gusto and Livestorm to share resources that give the learning community the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.

Following on from 2021, all of this culminates in our biggest year yet.

LearnUpon by numbers

Looking back to June 2012, when LearnUpon secured its very first customer, we were so excited to show how impactful our LMS could be for organizations. Fast forward to 2022, and we’ve achieved some really impressive numbers – over 1,300 customers worldwide, more than 13 million users, and a whopping 99+ million courses delivered.

What matters most to us as a company, and what we are continuously working towards, is putting the learner first, helping to create easy and enjoyable experiences that make learner goals easier to achieve. So when we look at our customers, it’s great to see some really inspiring success stories achieving just that:

Closing the skills gap

No matter the industry, the pandemic upended everyone’s professional lives. This caused many to look for new opportunities that better aligned with their career goals and offered more flexibility. This migration of talent, which is now widely referred to as the “Great Reshuffle”, left a huge mark on the global workforce. In fact, a study found that 4.5 million US workers resigned in March of this year alone.  Another recent survey by Emergn found that 75% of learners think strong workplace training has a high impact on their decision to stay with a company. Reports like this certainly put the onus on employers to improve workplace happiness, and this is where learning and development became a hero in 2022.

Now, I may be biased, but research has proven that learning and growth opportunities are a top driver in the workplace. People are hungry to learn, and as we head into a more uncertain economic future (if 2022 is anything to go by), businesses will still need learning as a way to skill and develop the people within their workforce.

In fact, ‘good training’ ranks fourth in the list of desirables offered by prospective employers. So, if your people are not getting the required training at work, you run the risk of employee turnover.

People want and need to do training on their own time and terms, and in digestible “chunks” that fit into their workflows. L&D is more than a program running in the background. It needs to be part of the culture – and one that employees are seeking out.

Delivering value beyond the internal workforce

With all that in mind, it’s important to point out that the success of an organization doesn’t just rely on the people who work there. There’s an ecosystem of employees, customers, partners, and other stakeholders that all play a role in influencing that success. For example, software companies train their customers on how to use their software to onboard them quicker and more efficiently, or to train their partners. Many miss valuable opportunities to enhance these relationships through learning

As we head into 2023, delivering effective learning experiences to the extended enterprise is essential. For customers, it will ensure they have all the information they need to succeed, and will result in higher customer satisfaction rates and reduced reliance on customer support. It’s also an opportunity to enhance the customer relationship, as it allows businesses to focus on what really matters – growing their people and driving business growth.

As a result, training programs, formats and delivery must align with how people work. And by focusing on areas like closing skills gaps, making training more relevant, and assessing technology performance, companies can deliver training that really moves the needle.

Expanding our offerings

Capterra claims that 53% of decision-makers choose an LMS based on features. But we believe that smart decision-makers look beyond features. They evaluate what an LMS can do for them and their learners. So with user experience top of mind, let’s take a look at some of LearnUpon’s enhancements this year and exactly how they’ll help you achieve your goals:

  • LearnUpon and Personio: LMS and HRIS Partnership
This partnership enables your business to deepen its onboarding and development strategies, reduce manual effort between teams, and focus on helping your people engage with learning that helps them develop and grow.
  • Live Learning HQ – Instructor-Led Training Centre
Our ILT Center is what your learning team uses to create, manage, and deliver live learning – in-person or webinar – to your employees, partners, customers, and beyond.
  • LearnUpon is now available in 20+ languages
LearnUpon now supports 23 out-of-the-box platform languages. With your environment and content in place, you can translate the LearnUpon platform in just a few clicks.
  • LearnUpon for Android
Joining our existing iOS learner app, your learners can easily access training and learn on-the-go all through the handy device that lives in their pocket!

2022 Accolades

Once again, I am so proud of what we have accomplished this year, and am thrilled for LearnUpon to be continually recognized by some of the top analysts in the L&D industry.

Most recently, we were awarded Gold for ‘Best Advance in Diversity and Inclusion Innovation’ alongside the American Council on Exercise at this year’s Brandon Hall Group Excellence in Technology Awards. We also took home five awards, submitted jointly with some of our customers, in the 2022 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards:

  • Gold for Best Customer Training Program – Broadcom and LearnUpon
  • Gold for Best New Hire Onboarding Program – Brown Thomas Arnotts and LearnUpon
  • Silver for Best Advance in Learning Technology Implementation – Enlyte and LearnUpon
  • Bronze for Best Advance in Compliance TrainingThe Adecco Group and LearnUpon

Claiming the top spot on eLearning Industry’s Best 20 LMSs based on Customer Experience, as well as making the prestigious list of Top 20 LMSs, really shows that we, as a company, are being recognized for our focus on making it quick and easy to build and deliver great learning experiences.

I love seeing LearnUpon achieve these awards, mainly because they allow us to highlight our customers’ success and how they are driving business results, supported by our platform and our people.

We said goodbye to Learning Impact

This wouldn’t be much of a wrap up if we didn’t give a nod to our much loved thought leadership series Learning Impact. We shared the news earlier this month that we would no longer be making any new episodes. However, the good news is that these insightful sessions are all still available to watch. The top three episodes are below, but stay tuned as we have something new and exciting coming next year to bring you the latest insights and knowledge from the best and brightest minds across the learning industry.

So, what’s coming in 2023?

As I shared in my recent interview with Forbes, “We’ve invested very heavily in being an API first company. And we like where learning is going in terms of real time, just-in-time learning. That’s where the future is. And we want to play a key part in that and be recognised globally for being best in class when it comes to getting the right learning to the right people at the right time.”

There’s been a big focus on skills this year, which will continue to feed into conversations across the board. Companies will focus on what learning looks like relating to career paths, the technology that fuels that, and how to actually build and sustain a positive culture that makes employees feel valued.

Here at LearnUpon, we’re focusing on integrations that can help bolster skills to address these issues. In particular, within our company, we’re proud of the culture we have cultivated in order to nurture our employees’ growth. At our core, we are a learning company, and 8 out of 10 of our initial hires are still with us because of the autonomy we’ve given them to grow into different roles, and share in the successes of the company.
